Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park launch consultation

PEOPLE are being offered a last chance to lodge any objections to the national park’s vision for the future.

Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park will launch a six-week consultation on February 19 for communities to lodge objections to the Finalised National Park Local Plan.

Following extensive consultation with communities, the finalised plan will guide sensitive rural and tourism development while protecting the park’s sensitive environment for the next five years.

The final stage of consultation provides an opportunity to submit objection to the plan if there are outstanding concerns.

Submitted objections will be considered by the Scottish Government reporter who will make final recommendations.

The plan is a culmination of three years work by national park staff.

During the draft plan consultation, 500 responses were received with more than 2000 individual comments.

Among the local proposals for this area are eight homes proposed for a new allocated site next to Old Kirk Loan in Aberfoyle.

Following a number of objections regarding the amount of proposed housing in Callander there are also ongoing discussions with Stirling Council regarding the area to the south of the southern boundary, next to McLaren High School as an alternative to the current long term housing proposal at The Gart Caravan Park.

Drop in sessions will be held from 2pm until 8pm on Monday, March 1 in the national park office at 52-54 Main Street, Callander, and on Wednesday, March 3 in Crianlarich Village Hall.
