Dear Editor – The suggestion to axe the post of makar has obviously caused conflict within Stirling Council. However, whether one agrees with the SNP’s assertion that it’s a penny-pinching attack on Stirling’s art and culture scene or a luxury we can’t afford in a period of austerity, as seen by others, there is little doubt that many readers will be able to identify better uses for taxpayers’ money, which is spent on largely symbolic projects.Read
