Dear Editor – The Islamic Mosque is objecting to the proposed Waitrose Store being able to sell alcohol from its store, as the Mosque is situated within closed proximity of its site.
Do you hear objections from the Churches on Drip Road, Stirling objecting that the Sainsburys store is selling alcohol? I think not.
Did the Lidl store receive any objections from the parish at St Ninians? I think not also.
In many other towns and cities across the country Alcohol is available within close proximity of other Religious Homes of Worship and no major concerns or objections seem to have been raised.
Might it be that the owners of many small shops within Stirling and the local outlying villages which may be selling alcohol within their establishments, worship at the Mosque? They may feel they might see a drop in their profits. So are they pursuing this challenge in their own interests?
