THORNHILL’S thespians will be in Gartmore next weekend to re-enact a recent success.
Last month the Thornhill Players performed two one-act plays with adult references and strong language.
The event went down so well that the Players are set for a repeat performance on Saturday, May 30, at 7.30pm in Gartmore Village Hall.
In “The People That Live in Boxes” by Les Clarke, Joe and Beck are two homeless. Joe works hard to keep Beck, a recovering drug addict, on an even plain.
Jenny, a student doing a thesis on the homeless, unwittingly uncovers a dark secret in Joe’s life. This play is a combination of tragedy and black humour.
“Last Tango in Thornhill” by David Tristram is a lighthearted look at a failing drama club with a membership of four and an audience which is not much bigger.
“There’s only one thing that sells tickets these days,” argues the chairman. “Sex!”
Thus begins the chaotic and hilarious build-up to an evening of extraordinary homegrown drama.
Tickets, priced £6, are available from Aberfoyle Post Office or Maureen on 01786 850393.
