Fling fun in the sun

THE sound of the pipes and some fantastic sunshine combined to get family entertainment in Dunblane off to a great start at the weekend.

The annual Doune and Dunblane Fling got under way on Friday evening with a combined folk and jazz night in the cathedral city’s Victoria Halls.

On Saturday afternoon, however, the focus shifted to the town Drying Green for Fling by the River, a host of music and sideshow entertainment.

Local councillor Graham Houston and MSP Bruce Crawford led off the pipers’ procession at noon. On the green events included a variety of live music, along with a fair trade fashion show, storytelling, face painting, circus skills and the always popular Rotary Club Duck Race.

Entertainment continued over the rest of the weekend with more concerts and another family fun day at Doune Castle.
