Forefront Children's Theatre raise money for Alzheimer Scotland

YOUNG performers from Forefront Children’s Theatre created some magic for a local charity recently.

Cinderella (Suzie Hammond) and Buttons (Dylan Wood) along with fellow panto cast members took time out from a recent rehearsal to present a cheque for £1051 to Liz Junnier of the Bridge of Allan branch of Alzheimer Scotland.

The money was raised through a retiring collection at the award-winning theatre company’s June production of “Oliver” in Alloa Town Hall.

Mrs Junnier thanked Forefront for their generosity adding: “It is so nice that such a talented group of young people have chosen a charity which supports mainly older people.”

The Forefront panto cast is hard at work preparing for Cinderella, their 21st anniversary panto, in Alloa Town Hall from January 8-16.

Year after year audiences are thrilled by the sheer professionalism of the talented company, which includes youngsters from across Central Scotland including Stirling, Bannockburn and the Hillfoots, as they perform the very best in traditional family pantomimes.

The stars of the future sing and dance their way through large-scale production numbers with lavish costumes, amazing scenery and plenty of fun and laughter for all the family.

Around 25 former Forefront performers have gone on to become professional actors.

Among them are Steven Miller from Tillicoultry, who is currently playing junior doctor Lenny Lyons in BBC’s “Casualty”.

Following years as a Forefront stalwart he won at place at Bristol Old Vic and has also appeared on TV shows such as The Bill and Holby City as well as a host of theatre work from Blackwatch to Fiddler on the Roof.

Forefront’s Naidha and Jim Stalker recently travelled to London to see another Forefront favourite Gregor Scott in the West End.

Gregor, from Coalsnaughton, is playing Fiyero in the West End production of “Wicked”.

Jim said: “He was absolutely brilliant. It was a real thrill to watch him. It was hard to believe this was this wee laddie from Coalsnaughton!”

Many other Forefront members are preparing to star in professional pantos across the UK or in other stage productions.
