THROUGHOUT the history of pop music there have been bands who have made it big, selling millions of records.
But beneath that commercial success have been a myriad of bands who have never sold a million records but have amassed a loyal fanbase.
One such group is Tyneside band The Daintees, who have received huge critical acclaim with the four albums they have released over the last 23 years.
They are playing in Stirling for the first time at the Tolbooth on Saturday.
The Tolbooth’s Eddie White said: “In the mid-80s no student bedsit was complete without a copy of “The Queen is Dead” by the Smiths or “George Best” by the Wedding Present.
“However, dig a little deeper and you will find the classic debut album ‘Boat to Bolivia’ by The Daintees”.
Front man Martin Stephenson is joined by original members Anthony and Gary Dunn, along with percussionist Finn Macardle, to perform their blend of folk, country, roots and pop.
The Daintees will be joined by John Peel favourites Helen and the Horns. Tickets, priced £12, are available at the box office on 01786 274000.
