Reunion to mark 45 years of folk

CELEBRATING 45 years of bringing the best of traditional music to the area Stirling Folk Club recently welcomed members past and present to a special grand reunion.

Meeting at Stirling Rugby Club earlier this month, 10 artists in all performed at the event, including top Scots singer Sheena Wellington and popular bands Lyra Celtica, Gaberlunzie and Luckenbooth.

So popular was the event, in fact, that the ticket bookings list had to be closed well in advance of the actual date.

The next meeting of the club takes place on Monday (December 1) when members and visitors alike will welcome two stalwarts of the British folk rock scene in the form of Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull member Dave Pegg and PJ Wright of Little Johnny England.

As well as performing their own original material both will also include cover versions of some of their favourite songs by other artists down through the years.

The gig gets underway at Stirling Rugby Club from 8pm and Stirling Folk club are always keen to welcome new faces.
