Guitarist for country stars

AN AWARD-WINNING country rock musician who has played with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris is set to take to the stage in Dunblane next week.

Al Perkins is a maestro on the pedal/ lap steel guitar, born and raised in Texas and known for his bluesy vocal style.

Playing since he was nine he began producing records in the 1970s while also continuing to work as a session player.

Among other big names he has worked with in the studio or on tour are The Eagles and The Rolling Stones.

Al Perkins appears at Dunblane’s Westlands Hotel on Saturday, March 7, with support from young five-piece band Two Fingers of Firewater who – despite coming from the south of England – have been widely praised for their authentic country sound.
