BANNOCKBURN man Scott Masterson had to be dragged to a slimming class by his sister.
But six months – and four stones – later he has a lot to thank her for after being voted man of the year by his fellow slimmers.
Scott is enjoying the lighter side of life at the St Ninians Slimming World group.
He has now been put forward for the national man of the year award for the speed at which he lost the weight. In September Scott weighed in at 18 stones but now is down to just over 14 stones.
He said: “I have not decided on a target yet. It’s all about being happy with yourself and maintaining that weight.
“I am delighted with my progress and the programme has definitely worked for me.
“I really enjoy going, although my sister had to drag me there at first. I am a bit shy but everyone made me feel so welcome. I didn’t think many men would be there but there were a few and I would certainly recommend it to any guys thinking of taking part.”
Scott suffers from high blood pressure and says his diet has helped with the condition.
“The diet has help me control my blood pressure and I am now on minimum medication.
“I thought when I first joined I was going to be made to eat salad all the time but in truth I have never eaten so well.
“I look forward to coming home from work, experimenting with the cooking and trying all the new recipes.”
