BRIDGE of Allan business Wood Winters Wines and Whiskies picked up an award at the recent Decanter World Wine Awards.
The Henderson Street concern was a highly-praised runner-up behind South London’s Green & Blue in the Independent Wine Merchant of the Year in the Under 12 staff category.
Douglas Wood, who runs the shop with his wife Cara Winters, said: “We were the only Scottish merchant to make the shortlist and not only that, we were runners-up for the whole of the UK.”
One of the judges, wine writer Anthony Rose, said of WoodWinters: “It is the kind of local wine merchant everyone should have: a friendly presence, terrific selection of wines, and great personal service.”
