New group to fight golf plan

DEVELOPERS are being warned that their plans for Park of Keir between Bridge of Allan and Dunblane are still being closely scrutinised.

Local environmental campaigners lost their battle to prevent a hotel and golf course development being given the go-ahead on the site at the end of 2004.

And earlier this month it was agreed to wind up the Park of Keir Friends Ltd group that had been set up to lead a possible community buy out of the land.

Following an announcement that the developers have applied to renew their planning permission for the land, campaigners set up a new Park of Keir Friends group.

While developers KW Properties won through in a public inquiry into the leisure development permission was only granted with several conditions attached.

Park of Keir Friends say they want to make sure these conditions are adhered to and fear may have been breached already, such as a requirement to submit details of the building appearance, site access, landscaping and a conservation plan within a three-year period which has now lapsed.

Supporters are being urged to write to Stirling Council and local MSPs regarding the renewal application.
