Kilbryde Castle puts garden on show

THE magnificent garden at Kilbryde Castle, Dunblane, plus four stunning Bridge of Allan gardens will be open on Sunday as part of Scotland’s Gardens Scheme.

Kilbryde Castle’s garden has seen many additions and renovations over the years and has lawns overlooking Ardoch Burn. It will be open from 2-5pm by permission of Sir James and Lady Campbell and Jack Fletcher.

Entry is £4 (£3 concessions), with the Leighton Library receiving 40 per cent and the rest going to SGS beneficiaries.

The Bridge of Allan openings start at 1pm and include two new gardens. Kenilworth at 7 Kenilworth Road is a fine traditional garden surrounding one of the three oldest houses on Kenilworth Road. 20 Upper Glen Road has recently been relandscaped while maintaining some fine specimen trees. Plaka in Pendreich Road is a semi-terraced garden divided into outdoor rooms. Garvia at 10 Fishers Green is a garden with something different happening each year.

Cream teas will be served at 20 Upper Glen Road and Bridge of Allan Golf Club.

Admission is £4. Strathcarron Hospice receives 20 per cent, National Multiple Sclerosis Society receives 20 per cent and the rest goes to SGS.
