Church club set to fly the flag

YOUNGSTERS at a training afternoon for Radio Rainbow, the Dunblane churches’ holiday club, received a surprise gift.

Jen Hanlon, a parent who has been helping at the club for the past five years, raised £350 to buy banners to promote Radio Rainbow around town.

She raised the money last summer by walking the West Highland Way.

The club will be held between 10am-noon from August 10-14 at the cathedral halls in Dunblane. Application forms are available in Dunblane Library and in the churches.

This year it is showtime at Radio Rainbow, with the main focus on working together in small groups to prepare performances of well known Bible stories. These will be filmed at the end of the week and shown to parents and friends at the celebration service on Sunday, August 16.

The children will also be entertained with songs and fun led by leader Nerys Brown and DJ, sketches from the drama team and other activities including quizzes and puppet making. They will be cared for by a large team of adult and teenage leaders drawn from all the churches, supported by more than 20 young helpers aged 12-15.

There is no charge for the week and all children who have completed at least a year at primary school are welcome. For more information contact team leaders Nerys Brown on 824511 or Duncan Strathdee on 823668.
