Concern over Port buildings

COUNCIL officials are seeking permission to take enforcement action over portable buildings which have been sited at Blairhoyle near Port of Menteith.

Stirling Council planners say the buildings shouldn’t be on the land at Cardross and Rednock Forest without planning permission.

However, they say the landowner is insisting none is required.

The planners said: “A number of portable buildings have been imported onto the site, located south west of Blairhoyle.

“Visits to the site have confirmed that as many as 13 portable buildings have been placed on a hardstanding area situated within the woodland.

“The site owner has confirmed that the buildings will be used in the longer term to provide accommodation and shelter for workers and that it is his view that the benefit of planning permission is not required as the buildings can be defined as ‘seasonal forestry workers’ cabins’.

“Members of the council are being asked to note that the site owner is being assisted on an infrequent voluntary basis by friends to undertake a general clearance of the area immediately adjacent to the hardstanding.

“The operations being undertaken at the site cannot in the view of officers be construed as legitimate forestry operations in terms of planning.
