INDIVIDUALS and businesses in Callander and the surrounding communities are invited to take advantage of a free book-keeping workshop to run later this month.
Organised by Stirling Enterprise (STEP) Business Gateway, the workshop will be held at the national park office in Callander on Tuesday, November 25, from 9.30am until 4.30pm.
The one day course, which includes lunch and refreshments, will consider the need to keep books, book-keeping methods available, provide an introduction to VAT, the analysed cash book, sales and purchase day books, filing your records, reconciling the bank account, double entry book-keeping, and single entry systems.
STEP Business Gateway start-up adviser Jim Fraser, who will deliver the session, said: “This workshop is ideally suited to anyone keen to explore and take the first steps towards a career in book-keeping, anyone getting started in business who needs to understand how to balance books – or anyone taking on responsibility for finances in a workplace setting.
“Delegates will learn why keeping books is important and will examine a variety of book-keeping options. Value Added Tax will be explored and delegates will practice recording financial transactions.”
