I’ll walk in my PJs and tiara!

GMTV personality Lorraine Kelly took time out of her busy schedule this week to speak to Observer editor Alan Rennie about her plans during the build-up towards this Saturday’s Ladies Midnight Walk.

AR: Any last-minute tips for the walkers?

Lorraine Kelly: All the hard training should be done, so give yourself a break and reserve your strength for the night.

AR: What will be your pre-walk routine?

LK: I will try and have a bit of a long lie and take it easy on Saturday. I will take my dog Rocky for a gentle walk and then I might watch a movie or try and catch up with all the episodes of "The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency" that I have taped.

AR: What and when will you eat?

LK: Around 8pm I will have a big plate of pasta and drink plenty of water. I will take some flapjacks with me as they give you lots of energy on the way round.

AR: What will you be wearing?

LK: I will be wearing my special Strathcarron Hospice "Here Come The Girls" T-shirt and my team, which includes my 15-year-old daughter Rosie, will be wearing pyjama bottoms. All the women will be given sparkly tiaras beforehand.

AR: Walking boots or trainers? Any make-up?

LK: I will be wearing my trusty trainers. There’s no point in putting on lots of slap but I will have the minimum and maybe a bit of glitter to go with my tiara.

AR: Are you looking forward to the event?

LK: I am very much looking forward to seeing all the women from the Stirling area who have so kindly decided to join the walk and raise so much money for such a brilliant cause.

AR: And what about vocal support en route from Stirling’s men?

LK: I hope lots of people come to support us and to give as a cheer as we walk past! It really does spur you on – the crowds helped me through my two London Marathons and especially the New York Marathon as well as all those Moonwalks.

AR: Do you know the Stirling route?

LK: I don't know the route all that well. But I will know it like the back of my hand when we are finished. Stirling is such a glorious city and I think it will be even more special in the wee small hours.

AR: Any other thoughts?

LK : I would like to congratulate the organisers and fundraisers at Strathcarron, especially Angela Gillies for doing such a terrific job. Everyone is so excited about this walk and the wonderful thing is that all proceeds will be going directly to Strathcarron Hospice.

AR: What do you know about the hospice?

LK: It is a very special place, inspirational, calm and a place where people go to live out the rest of their lives.

AR: What will you do after finishing the 10 miles early on Sunday?

LK: At the end of the walk, I think I will need a cup of tea and a roll and sausage with lots of HP sauce! Then it’s home for a hot bath and to catch up on some sleep.
