Keith Brown backs Macmillan’s latest cancer campaign

OCHIL MSP Keith Brown will be putting the kettle on next week to raise cash for a cancer charity.

The SNP member is taking part in Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday, September 25, – and he is inviting his constituents to either go along or hold their own coffee morning.

He said: “In the UK today one in three people are affected by cancer and two million people have cancer or have experienced it.

“I know that a considerable number of constituents have personal experience of the problems a cancer diagnosis can bring to both patients and their family and I know that Macmillan has been there to support many of those in need.

“Macmillan Cancer Support is there for people from the moment they are diagnosed, with medical and practical help, as well as emotional and financial support.

“That’s why I am will be hosting a coffee morning in my constituency office at 80 Mill Street, Alloa, on Friday, September 25, between 10am and noon and I would like to invite all of my constituents to drop in.”

He added: “I would also urge people to consider holding their own coffee morning or coffee evening.

“It's an easy and fun way to raise money for Macmillan and every penny you raise will help people with cancer.”

Last year thousands of people across the UK took part in the coffee morning, raising £7.5m for Macmillan, but this year the charity hopes to raise even more money to help fund vital cancer services across the country.
