Stirling woman abseiled from Forth Bridge for disability charity

A WOMAN from Stirling faced her fears in a big way when she took the plunge from the Forth Bridge.

Maeve Bain, who works for the Scottish Disability Equality Forum at Springkerse, abseiled from the world-famous structure for charity recently.

Despite a long-held fear of heights, Maeve gulped down her reservations and abseiled. In the process she raised more than £350 for her chosen charity Momentum, which assists disabled people with jobs and rehabilitation.

She told the Observer: “I completed the abseil, every terrifying second of it.

“I think the worst part for me was actually going up the temporary scaffolding steps to reach the bridge.

“It was a fabulous day and the views over the Forth were amazing.”

Maeve prepared for the abseil with three sessions on the climbing wall at the Peak.

She added: “I am very proud of myself, I never thought I could ever do anything like this. Every credit to the abseil team.”
