Clachan hotel sells for almost £775,000

THE Clachan Hotel in Lochearnhead has been sold for almost £775,000.

The 21-bedroom hotel on the main A83 Perth to Oban road has open southerly views over Loch Earn.

It also has two bars, a restaurant and function room, plus a private jetty and slipway giving boat access to the loch as well as 25 moorings in the loch.

The hotel was sold by the Edinburgh office of hotel and licensed property specialists Colliers Robert Barry, on behalf of Redcastle Hotels Ltd.

The new owner of the Clachan Cottage, Alan Garnier, is no stranger to Perthshire hotels, having previously owned the Killin Hotel and the Riverview Bistro in Killin, Grampian Hotel in Perth, Dunearn House in Auchterarder and the Tayside Hotel in Stanley.

But he is also a local “lad” to Lochearnhead.

He plans to carry out refurbishment work to the property, which is within Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, continues to be a very popular venue for a wide range of visitors and passing trade to West Perthshire.

Alistair Letham, a director with selling agents Coliers Robert Barry, said: “The sale of the Clachan Cottage Hotel is an indication that the market is on the turn, particularly where there are properties that show a good level of profit on turnover.”

The exact purchase price was not disclosed, but the agents confirmed it was close to the asking price of offers around £775,000.
