Success of Centre is Pure Magic for Oona

AN ATMOSPHERIC holistic centre near Drymen is going from strength to strength, including winning a national award.

Tir na nOg is a holistic centre, cafe and shop in a courtyard setting in the grounds of a country estate at Balfron Station.

Although only opening its doors in 2005, it was recently nominated for Soul and Spirit magazine’s awards as “Favourite Bricks and Mortar Shop”.

It features therapies, a calendar of workshops, regular evening classes such as tai chi and yoga and a shop full of crystals, books, jewellery and unusual gifts, as well as having an organic cafe serving veggie food and cakes.

Tir na nOg also recently opened its new Enchanted Realm Therapy Suite offering a “magical menu” of complementary therapies such as deep tissue, aromatherapy, Thai/Indonesian and Indian head massage, reflexology, kinesiology, reiki, the Feldenkrais Method (which uses gentle movement and directed attention to improve movement, flexibility and coordination),and foot readings.

Tir na nOg’s owner Oona McFarlane is also an advanced firewalk instructor and last year led firewalks in both Israel and Glastonbury. She is also an NLP practitioner, storyteller and reiki master teacher and practitioner with years of experience in leading workshops, training and ceremonies.

Oona founded Tir na nOg with Nikki Mackay and continues to run the centre, practise therapies and run workshops.

She said: “I’ve been working with energy healing therapies and ceremonies and processes for personal exploration and change for about eight years now, and my work has allowed me the privilege of watching hundreds of people transform their lives and find their way to a new way of being, in myriad subtle and not-so-subtle ways.

“I also like breaking barriers, challenging beliefs, telling stories and hearing tales.”
