Off the Page book festival launched

TOP Scots authors Christopher Brookmyre and Iain Banks will be among those taking part in the 2010 Off the Page Stirling Book Festival in September.

Stirling Council Library Service officially launched the festival in Drymen Library last week with Councillor Steven Paterson, portfolio holder for communities and culture, joining library staff in publicising the programme.

This year’s Off the Page, from September 11-18, which is once more being sponsored by the Scottish Arts Council, will feature various well-known authors including Louise Welsh and Denise Mina.

Popular children’s authors this year include Michelle Pavor, Rose Impey and Andy Briggs. Bookbug, who is taking the place of the Bookstart Bear, will be visiting three libraries to introduce himself.

Details of all the events are in the programme which is available in all the libraries and on the Off the Page website at www.stirling.gov.uk/offthepage. Further information is available from library headquarters on 01786 432383.
