POLICE are hoping a taxi driver can shed some light on an alleged sexual assault on a woman in Stirling last week.
They want to talk to the driver of a vehicle which ferried a group of clubbers from the Red Room in Bridge of Allan to Wallace Street in the city centre at 2am on Thursday, October 6.
Officers investigating the case have been unable to establish the number of male passengers who were in the car with the woman at the centre of the claim, although there could have been as many as four.
Two of the men were in fancy dress costumes following a night out at the Kenilworth Road venue. One was dressed as a banana and the other possibly dressed as a clown.
Police hope the costumes will have stuck in the mind of the driver and that he or she will contact the force.
A police spokesperson said: “We have carried out extensive inquiries in an effort to trace the taxi driver. We believe he may hold vital information and we are keen for him to come forward.
“We are certain that the taxi driver would remember this pick-up as two of the men were in fancy dress costumes.”
No details were given of where the assault is alleged to have taken place.
Police can be contacted on 01786 456000 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
