Emaciated dog had to be put down

Police said they are trying to track down the owner of an abandoned dog which was so emaciated it had to be put down.

The Rottweiller was found in the Trinity Road area of Edinburgh at around 11am on Friday.

Police took the animal to a nearby vet after finding it in "a highly emaciated state" and needing urgent medical attention.
