Experts 'should guide bank inquiry'

Experts should guide a Holyrood inquiry into any changes to the banking industry to stop politicians relying on anecdotal evidence, MSPs heard.

Holyrood's Economy Committee decided to bring forward a list of potential official advisors, which may include retired heads of business banking, before the inquiry gets under way in September.

Labour MSP Wendy Alexander pushed for the move, saying it will be better to ask "fewer and better questions" with the right advisor.
