Big drop in school meals uptake

The number of secondary pupils taking school meals has fallen to its lowest level for a decade, it has been revealed.

Scottish Government figures showed the percentage of secondary school youngster taking school meals dropped below the 40% mark earlier this year.

According to the figures, just 39.2% of secondary youngsters took meals compared to 42.9% in 2008 - and 50% in 2002.
