Killer 'joked while digging grave'

A man killed an 18-year-old girl then dug her grave in his garden in front of a neighbour and pretended that it was a sandpit, prosecutors have told a jury.

Peter Tobin, 62, stood "chest deep" in the hole at the back of his house while a neighbour joked with him, Chelmsford Crown Court was told.

Tobin, serving a life sentence for the murder of Vicky Hamilton, denies murdering Dinah McNicol, of Tillingham, Kent, who disappeared when she was 18 in August 1991.
