No charges over C diff outbreak

Criminal charges will not be brought over a Clostridium difficile outbreak at a hospital in which 18 people died, prosecutors have said.

The outbreak, which saw more than 50 people infected, took place at the Vale of Leven Hospital in Dunbartonshire between December 2007 and June 2008.

A report which identified failures in hygiene and infection control was passed to prosecutors last year.
