£2.2bn in student loans outstanding
More than £2.2 billion worth of student loans have still to be repaid, figures have revealed.
The outstanding balance on student loans at the end of 2008-09 was £2,227.4 million - the highest amount ever and 9% more than the previous year.
This is the total amount of cash the requires to be repaid following the introduction of student loans.
