Fears over national police board

The creation of a national police board for Scotland puts the country on the "slippery slope" to having just one force, Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott has claimed.

Mr Scott claimed the move, which was announced on Wednesday, was "part of the SNP`s campaign to centralise the police under the control of ministers".

And he challenged Alex Salmond on the issue at First Minister`s Questions in the Scottish Parliament, with the Lib Dem saying: "This is the slippery slope to one police force."
