Hospital bug strategy 'confusing'

Health boards have been left confused by a blizzard of paperwork about a potentially deadly hospital bug, a report has said.

Quality watchdogs found a "widespread lack of clarity" about how national guidance and documents on Clostridium difficile should be applied in the three health boards they studied.

And this lack of clarity applied at all levels, from the ward to the boardroom, said NHS Quality Improvement Scotland after a study of three health board areas - NHS Grampian, NHS Highland, and NHS Orkney.
