Hot cars 'can boil dogs alive'

Two dogs died after being left in a hot car, animal welfare officers have said.

And the Scottish SPCA is urging pet owners not to leave their animals in the sun, in light of the deaths in Inverness two weeks ago.

With temperatures expected to reach 26C this week, the charity said dogs should not be kept in cars even for a short time. The sun's heat is intensified through glass windows, leading animals to be "boiled", the animal welfare charity said. Opening a window a little or leaving a bowl of water is not enough, it added.
