Police chief constable steps down

Tributes have been paid to a top police officer after it was announced he is to step down to care for a sick family member.

Tayside Police Chief Constable Kevin Mathieson, 49, is to retire from the force after a year in the post.

His tenure saw recorded crime in the area drop to a ten-year low and detection rates rise.
