999 staff thanked for dedication

Scotland's Justice Secretary has paid tribute to emergency staff for their dedication over the festive season.

Kenny MacAskill thanked the thousands of police, fire and ambulance service workers who have been dealing with 999 calls while much of the rest of the country enjoys time off with loved ones.

They include more than 700 Scottish Ambulance Service staff and at least 3,300 firefighters, retained firefighters and fire control room staff.
