Reports of animal poisoning have soared to their highest level in over a decade, an official report has revealed.
Scotland's Wildlife Incident Investigation Scheme (WIIS) recorded 233 suspected poisoning incidents last year, over a quarter more than the 166 recorded last year and the highest figure since recent records began in 1997.
Birds of prey, wild mammals, livestock and pet dogs and cats were all found to be victims of accidental or deliberate poisonings. However, only 32 incidents were recorded as abuse, rather than accidental exposure, a slight reduction on last year.
