DOLLAR Academy’s pipe band is celebrating its ninth successive victory in the Scottish schools combined cadet force pipes and drums competition.
This year the event was held at Loretto School in Musselburgh. Eleven bands competed but Dollar held on to a trophy it has had since 2000.
As well as winning the overall competition, Dollar enjoyed numerous other successes.
Erin Stanhope (15) was first in the intermediate solo drumming, Calum Martin (17) won the Ron Ackroyd Memorial Quaich for best drum major and Sandy Cameron (11) won the Douglas Henderson Memorial Quaich for junior solo piping.
The scores from the solo piping produced an overall first for Dollar’s pipe corps, which won the Loch Nan Eun Quaich for the ninth time.
Captain Craig Stewart, who instructs the band, said: “The pipe band’s success is testament not only to the commitment of our youngsters but also to the dedication and support of the teaching staff, particularly David Methven, Lee Innes and George Mair. We are already looking forward to next year.”
