Having a ball at May fayre

STAFF and pupils at Allan’s Primary School have raised more than £3000 in a record-breaking fundraiser for the school.

Scotland Under 20 and Stirling County RFC rugby stars Robbie McGowan and Grant Gilchrist cut the tape at the official opening of the school’s annual May fayre on Saturday.

The city centre school’s fundraiser packed a big punch in terms of fun activities for all the family and raised a total of £3150.

Continuing the rugby theme this year, one of the star prizes for the auction was a ball personally signed by the Scotland First XV pack, which fetched more than £100 for school funds.

Chair of the parent council, Sue McAllister, said: “The fayre is definitely a fun raiser as well as a fundraiser.

“Allan’s is all about community and family values and it was great to see everyone turn out to support the school so magnificently.

“It’s always a fun-packed family day out and we’re delighted to have raised so much money despite the economic downturn.”
