School band holds on to Scottish title

FOR the 10th year in a row Dollar Academy was named best overall entry at this year’s Scottish Schools Combined Cadet Force Pipes and Drums Competition.

Not only did the A band retain the trophy but the academy’s B Band showed strength in depth by sealing second place.

A large number of individuals also won solo events in piping and drumming.

Band instructor Craig Stewart said: “The success of the bands has come from long, hard practice and teamwork.

“The early morning practices are particularly important and it is wonderful to see young people showing such commitment and dedication.”
