Balfron High get flavour of life in Zimbabwe

THE rhythms of an African village with traditional singing, drumming and dancing are to be transported to villages in West Stirlingshire.

On Wednesday, November 25 at Balfron High School, the Zimbabwean Grassroots Theatre Company will wow their audience with their incredible energy and exciting sound.

The concert has been arranged as part of National Guild Week, with Fintry and Balfron Guilds coming together to present this unique, multi-talented group.

The group was set up in 1987 by young college students in Bulawayo, to teach children about their indigenous cultural backgrounds through the medium of performance.

They are giving workshops in three primary schools next week, with the focus on what day to day life is like for families in Zimbabwe, and the importance of Fair Trade for people in developing countries.

Wednesday’s event at the school is at 7.30pm and tickets £6, £2 accompanied children, are available from any guild member or Irene Kelso 01360 860444.
