Binos in SPL loan deal

STIRLING Albion boss Allan Moore is looking to further strengthen his squad, with a loan deal for a midfielder from an SPL club apparently imminent.

Moore played his cards close to his chest on the player’s identity but added that he hopes a deal will be finalised quickly in order that the player could join up in time for at least some of the forthcoming friendlies. These get underway with a home clash against Dunfermline next Wednesday.

The Binos boss said: “We’ve got a boy coming in from a Premier League team. I can’t say too much about that at the moment but we should find out about that one soon and we are hoping to get him in for a couple of the pre-season games.”

He added: “I think we are a wee bit short at the moment, maybe two or three players – but we are still on the lookout.”

With defender Greig McDonald already in from East Fife and another deal for Queen of the South midfielder Scott Robertson all but done-and-dusted, Moore said that he is optimistic about the long season ahead.

He added: “I think Scott will be a good addition for us because he’s big and physical. Greig’s an old fashioned centre-half but he’s got goals in him as well so I’m hoping that he’ll pitch in.”

As for the rest of the squad, Moore said that the foundations are already there from last season and that they are looking good in pre-season training, which is now well underway.

Moore said: “To be honest, nowadays the boys come back fit anyway but we gave them a bit of a bleaching last week and they came through it well.”

Injury-wise, Moore confirmed that Andy Graham should be okay following his ankle knock but said that striker Martin Grehan may have to be wrapped up in cotton wool for a spell following his stomach injury.

This may also be the case for Nathan Taggart, back after a long lay off, though Moore added that having Taggart back fit again would be like having a new addition to the squad in itself.
