STIRLING Albion’s pre-season work has been continuing this week, with next Wednesday’s friendly against Dunfermline at Forthbank fast approaching.
Boss Allan Moore said that he has been delighted with the attitude of the players in training so far and that their general fitness level since returning has been excellent.
Moore handed the squad fitness programmes at the end of last season and said that these seem to have been followed to the letter, clearly making his job a lot easier as he puts them through some gruelling drills.
The work put in by keeper Scott Christie over the close season merited a special mention from the Binos boss. Moore said: “Scott got a fitness programme like everyone else but he’s been in the gym and has bulked up quite a bit in his upper body.” He added that he hopes to see the keeper make good progress this season.
There was no further concrete news on new players coming in, though Moore did say they were continuing to track the unnamed midfielder with an SPL club with a view to a loan deal, as revealed in the Observer on Wednesday.
Moore insisted that there was still a bit of wheeling and dealing to do to seal this but that he remained optimistic. He also gave the fans a hint of what to expect if it comes off.
Moore said: “He’s an attacking midfielder. I think we missed a goal presence in that area last season so myself, John and Roddy sat down and discussed that.
“We’ve had people looking at him for a while so hopefully it will come off, though it’s not a certainty.”
