ALASTAIR Hay ran in the same heat as Mo Farah in the 1500m at the Olympic trials in Birmingham on Friday night.
In a tactical race the runners went through 800m in 2:09.
Farah kicked on with Alastair in pursuit and the third lap was covered in 55 seconds, leaving Alastair short of finishing pace on the run-in. He finished seventh and outside the qualifying positions with 3:51.29.
Jennifer Emsley of Central AC won gold at the Scottish Athletics senior championships at Pitreavie on Sunday. In the track 10,000m she covered the 25 laps in 37:8.67secs.
Lynsday Morrison picked up silver and John Newsom took silver in the men’s race.
Ron Todd won gold medals in the M50 age group for 100m hurdles (18.19s), shot putt (9.84m) and pole vault (2.80m).
Central’s U12s were involved in the Scottish Championships SuperTeams competitions but missed out on the medals.
The boys’ team of Ross McKnight, Matthew McGarva, Daniel Robins and Jack Haughton and the girls’ team of Rachel Martin, Erin Potter, Skye Henderson and Darcy Baxter both took equal fifth places.
The Brian Goodman Memorial 10K on Friday night saw Claire Couper winning the ladies race in 36m 52s, finishing 12th overall, just behind Chris Clarke’s 36:19 effort.
