ST MODANS pre-season friendlies featured a feast of run scoring and two hard fought encounters which were settled in the final overs.
At Stenhousemuir half centuries from Ferrier and Macdonald set up a target of 190 in 30 overs. The visitors chased this down with professional Craig Matthew smashing 116 not out. Alex Pollock’s 18 was the principal back up.
At the weekend with the professional sidelined by coaching duties, St Modans nevertheless posted 236 for four against visiting Victoria. Ram Seshagiri batted beautifully for 99 and George Pollock blasted 57 not out.
Unfortunately the visiting side were not to be outdone their opening bat leading the chase with 147 not out. Victoria reached their target with six wickets and two overs to spare.
Sam Crook was the pick of the bowlers with one for 29 in a tidy nine over spill.
This week St Modans open their league campaign at home to Dalnacraig.
