STIRLING County lost their second match in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
Visitors Heriots bowled Stirling out for 142 and passed the total to win by three wickets.
For Stirling only teenager Nick Farrer impressed with the bat, scoring 53 – his first half-century for the club. Heriots’ slow left-arm bowler Keith Morton took four for 37.
In reply Heriots lost wickets at regular intervals and when they collapsed to 124 for seven it looked like Stirling might snatch the win.
But Morton (14 not out) and Ashraf (8 not out) had a vital partnership which saw them through to the win.
Josh Edwards with three for 24 and Obaid Hameed with three for 18 were the main wicket-takers.
On Saturday Stirling travel to Paisley to meet Ferguslie in the third of their Scottish Cup sectional matches.
Match ball sponsor on Saturday was Roger Fuller.
Stirling 2nds started their season with a comprehensive nine-wicket win at Irvine in the Western Cup.
Jonathan Bowes took five wickets as Irvine fell to 89 all out and James Miller’s 50 along with 27 for Grant Cordner saw Stirling home comfortably.
Both Stirling 3rds and 4ths were denied a match on Saturday. In East League Division Five Penicuik 2nds conceded the match to the 3rds when they could not raise a side.
In Division Nine rain throughout the week put paid to the 4ths’ match at Leith Links against Edinburgh South 3rds.
On Saturday Stirling 2nds meet Moorcroft at New Williamfield in the Western Cup and the 3rds XI are at home to Musselburgh 2nds. The 4th are in action on Sunday at Broomhall 3rds.
