Raza rips through Kinloch

ST MODANS ground out a win at Kinloch on Saturday to keep up their unbeaten record in Strathmore and Perthshire Union Division One.

Batting first, on a St Andrews track that assisted the home side's succession of seam bowlers, Saints found runs proved hard to come by and only Craig Matthew (45) was able to dominate.

Once he fell, St Modans lost wickets at regular intervals and only a late flurry by Matt Riddell (26 not out) pushed the total to a modest 130 all out.

Kinloch appeared to have the chase under control, but a fine bowling and fielding effort gradually brought the visitors back into contention.

Again it was Qamar Raza who continued his fantastic spell with the ball, taking five for 21 including three in his final over as the home side were bowled out for 116.

He was ably assisted by miserly spells from Matthew, one for 16, and Tony Pollock, one for 10.

This victory ensures that the Bannockburn side remain at least joint front runners going into next week's home clash with Forthill.
