Free tennis fun at Stirling
STIRLING Tennis Club head coach Adam Brown organised a week of free tennis at Kings Park for youngsters aged five to 10.
And he roped in Andy Murray’s mum Judy and former Miss Scotland Katharine Brown to join in the fun on Monday’s opening day.
The Murray factor drew around 80 Wimbledon wannabees to the Kings Park as proud parents looked on, wondering if they were watching a future champion.
Adam said: “We don’t really need to advertise tennis much. The best advert we can get is seeing Andy doing well and that brings more people into the sport.”
Two weeks ago Judy Murray was in tears after seeing her son lose to Federer but she was all smiles when she was back on the courts with the youngsters.
She signed as many autographs and posed for as many photos as her son but did it all with a smile on her face.
“This is great and I would like to see this happening more,” she said. “It’s been fun working with the youngsters.”
The free tennis sessions continue until Friday at Kings Park from 9-10am.
