Hockey: Capital day out for kids

YOUNG hockey players from the Stirling area were among those taking part in the recent Scottish National Primary Hockey Festival in Edinburgh.

The annual tournament allows P6-7 children to display their hockey skills and perform in a friendly competition.

More than 350 children took part including two teams from the Stirling area – the first containing five players from the Stirling Wanderers and five from Stirling High After-School-Club run by Active Stirling’s multi-sport coach Neil Thomson.

The second was made up from five players from each of the Trossachs Tigers and the Balfron Wolves Hockey Clubs.

Hockey development officer Lindsey Campbell, said: “It was a fantastic day with everyone playing extremely well. It is great for the kids to be able to test their abilities and skills against other pupils from all over Scotland.”
