Swimming: Barracudas’ gold double

BALFRON Barracudas Swimming Club had a double win in a recent graded meet in Whitburn.

The club, which was founded in 2007 as a recreational club based at Balfron High, presently has 64 children swimming on Mondays and Saturdays and is coached by former Balfron High School pupil Hatty Floyd helped by three assistants.

Recently some of the swimmers entered their first graded meet swimming gala – and the club was delighted to collect a handful of medals including golds for Patrick Lynch in the 50m backstroke and Shona Michie in the 50m breaststroke.

Rachel Morris won silver in the 50m freestyle while Shona was fourth in freestyle and sixth in butterfly. Patrick also had a fifth place finish in freestyle.

In the final race of the day, the relay team came fifth out of 12 teams, which was a fantastic result for the club’s first swimming gala.
