SWANSWATER

WITH the weather remaining cool fish are still active, although those seen moving around the top of the water are not necessarily those that are being caught.

In general most have been taking around 3-4 feet and are looking for small lures and nymphs, fished with a fairly fast retrieve.

On the small ponds wet flies such as bibio, Kate McLaren and spiders have been doing well.

There have been no particular hotspots, although the dam area has been fishing well early morning. From the middle of the week onwards boats were also doing well.

Some of the best catches: David Garrett, Stirling, 4 for 15lb 8oz, biggest 8lb 3oz; Jimmy McGillivray, Clackmannan, 3 for 12lb, best 7lb 2oz; Eddie Collins, Cowie, 2 for 10lb 8oz, best 7lb; Billy Weir, Stirling, 4 for 14lb 6oz, best 6lb 10oz; Donald McMurchie, Fallin, 5 for 14lb 12oz; Danny Doherty, Denny, 4 for 12lb; Stuart Malcolm, Denny, 4 for 11lb 12oz; Davy Horne, Stirling, 3 for 9lb; Sandy Donald, Dunblane, 3 for 9lb; Rory Ford, Stirling, 2 for 7lb 8oz.

WELLSFIELD

ANOTHER good week for sport, with plenty caught in all three ponds, using the correct tactics. Most of the week the fish were around 2-3 feet deep, taking a variety of small lures and flies. Those fly fishing for brown trout have done really well using CDCs and Klinkhammers.

Best flies: mini-lures, diawl bach, HH damsel, buzzers, traditional wet flies. Best baits: maggots, worms, mepps spinners.

D Harkins, Grangemouth caught the biggest fish of the week: a 14lb rainbow in his basket of 5 for 24lb.
