FORTH Valley Orienteers produced three British Champions at the weekend.
The British Long Distance and Relay Championships were staged in the Lake District.
Saturday’s individual race was at Dalegarth
and Lizzie Stansfield had a super-fast run to take the win on W10, while Hazel Dean (W45) and Martin Dean (M55) also had excellent runs to become British Champions in their classes.
On Sunday FVO had nine teams in the relay at Helsington Barrows and four won their class.
The M40 team of Martin Dean, Jason Inman and Ben Stansfield fought off stiff competition and the W40 ladies team of Jen Leonard, Rona Molloy and Hazel Dean also ran well to finish in first place.
The M60 team of Ted Finch, Dave Coustick and Brian Bullen had a brilliant day to take the win and the W14 team of Grace Molloy, Eloise Lardet and Clare Stansfield proved they were up for the challenge too.
The young mini-relay team of Peter Molloy, Pierre Lardet and Lizzie Stansfield finished second in a fast and furious race.
On Monday there was an urban race when Daniel and Lizzie Stansfield continued their winning streak and Martin and Hazel Dean completed their hat-trick of wins. Jason Inman took third place.
The second event in the FVO summer series was held at Barrwood, near Denny. Top spot on the short beginner’s course went to Angus Leslie, closely followed by Robin Purves and Jamie Goddard.
Josie Stansfield was the winner on the medium course, ahead of Stuart Robertson and Jack Cartwright. Will Hensman won the long course with Roger Goddard and Ross McLennan 2nd and 3rd.
The next event is on Wednesday, May 16, at Bantaskine, Falkirk.
